Claire Dent - Designer

Claire Dent has been creating art and design from an early age, choosing to spend her work experience placement with an interior designer, specialising in fabric design.  She graduated with a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree at the world renowned University of the Creative Arts, Farnham, Surrey, in 2002.  Claire was fortunate enough to learn a variety of printing and painting techniques, such as screen, lino cutting and etching throughout her studies and as well as using early versions of Adobe Photoshop to produce designs for digital printing.

Following her degree, Claire continued to create and produce 'pattern-like' paintings, using repetition, pen on a large scale.  However, more recently, she has rediscovered a love for print and pattern and re-learnt Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, igniting her passion for surface pattern design.

Claire's style can be described as abstract, organic and edgy.  Combining contemporary, delicate drawings with painterly qualities.  She is very much influenced by nature and it's intriguing shapes, but also likes to look at every day objects, cultural influences and immediate surroundings for inspiration.  Claire likes to produce delicate designs with interesting colour fusions, which are occasionally multi-layered and textural.
